Awesome Autumn In Cape Town
Autumn is arguably the best time of the year to be in Cape Town for various reasons
So, summer is over and you find yourself wondering if the next few months will bring any fun or excitement. The months of March, April and May fall in the season of autumn in Cape Town and you foresee yourself stuck indoors, in bed, suffering from chronic cabin fever while you adjust to the colder temperatures.
Gone are the days of soaking up the warm rays of the sun..
Gone are the days of pool parties and bikinis..
Gone are the days of cooling down with an ice-cream cone or an ice cold beer, your 2 favourite things..
I'm here to tell you that if you have ever considered taking up the art of fortune-telling - don't. Your foresight is horribly out of tune and you should stick to your mediocre 9-5 office job.
Autumn is arguably the best time of the year to be in Cape Town for various reasons of which I'm about to share with you. So shake off your pessimism, crack open that beer and let's discuss how awesome autumn in Cape Town is!
Light breeze, colourful leaves.. it must be Autumn!
Autumn in Cape Town is a pleasant time of the year. The heat of summer has died down but has not yet disappeared completely. Don't pack away your dresses and shorts just yet as autumn still graces us with warm days, however, it's time to start digging out your hoodies and jeans for the crisp mornings and evenings, and occasional rain falls.
Autumn, the year's last loveliest smile before Winter..
I also suggest trying to squeeze in as many beach visits as you can to soak up the last rays of the sun. Winter is around the corner.. do I need to remind you how pale your legs were last year? Additionally, the ocean's temperature gets warmer as the seasons gets cooler. You may want to take up those surfing lessons you've been talking about for the past 3 years, or step outside of your comfort zone and go shark cage diving!
"Fall has always been my favourite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale."
- Lauren DeStefano
Stepping on crunchy leaves..
Table Mountain has some of the best hiking paths and trad climbing trails, as well as abseiling for the avid adventurers! Lions Head is one of the most popular hiking spots in the world, and Silvermine Mountain has various caves to explore. There are also various forests that make for great places to meet up with a group of friends and get that blood pumping while taking in the breath-taking scenery.
"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house."
-Nathaniel Hawthorne
Autumn's the mellow time..
The peak-season in Cape Town is now ending and the hustle and bustle of tourists gets less and less frequent. Waiting queues become shorter, roads become a bit more chilled and the biggest bonus of all - accommodation prices drop! If you're planning a budget trip to Cape Town, you will most likely find the best deals during autumn and even winter.
